Molecular Contiguity between Human and Animal Consciousness through Evolution: Some Considerations
نویسندگان
چکیده
This work suggests the possibility of the existence of contiguity in the molecular evolution of consciousness, between man and animal. From the experimental point of view and in terms of hypotheses, it seems that many elements lead to considerations about a common molecular evolutionary origin of the consciousness in animals and humans. It seems, also, evident that the increasing levels of complexity of consciousness can correspond to the evolutionary process. The work discusses a scientific speculation about the possible role of serotonin and thermoregulation in the evolution of consciousness of living beings. *Corresponding author: Massimo Cocchi, “Paolo Sotgiu” Institute for research in Quantitative and Quantum Psychiatry and Cardiology, L.U.de.S. Human and Animal Brain Phospholipids Fatty Acids, Evolution and Mood Disorders
The purpose of this paper is to connect the experimental evidence concerning brain phospholipids fatty acids composition by comparing the first warm-blooded animal in the phylogeny (birds) with the human brain at various ages of life (from the fetal period until the eightieth year of age). The particularity of our investigation is an almost unique opportunity for groped a hypothesis about the e...
متن کاملExperimental Models of Absence Epilepsy; A Review Article
Background: Absence epilepsy is a brief non-convulsive seizure that associated with sudden abrupt in consciousness. Because of the unpredictable occurrence of absence seizures and ethic limitation of human investigation on the pathogenesis and drug assessment led to the tendency to animal models. The aim of this paper is reviewing the advantages and disadvantages of several animal models of non...

Generally, when moral values and ethical principles are concerned, human beings are considered as the sole subject of these fields. It is then concluded that the only living creatures with some privileges and obligation towards their own bodies and also, towards their other human counterparts are humans. An emerging issue, particularly in the past recent three decades, has been the expansion ...
متن کاملConsciousness and its Place in a “Natural Hierarchy” Considerations Concerning the Role of Consciousness in Modern Philosophy and Ethics
The paper presents some considerations concerning the role of consciousness as a privileged state in nature which has implications for ethics. Especially in the modern talk about consciousness of human beings or animals since Thomas Nagel (1974) or Peter Singer (1975) we find discussions about the role of consciousness as an important irreducible and ‘higher’ phenomenon connected with a first p...
متن کاملAnimal communication, animal minds, and animal language
The communication systems of nonhuman animals are reviewed, together with a discussion of their relevance for the evolution of human language. The teaching of language to nonhumans, as well as signs of mind and consciousness outside our species, are considered as possible bridges between us and the rest of the animal kingdom.
